A group of children returned to Ukraine-controlled territory from occupied Kherson region
A group of children aged 7 to 17 has been returned to Ukraine-controlled territory from the temporarily occupied districts of Kherson region.
The successful return was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, on Telegram.
According to him, the children were evacuated from settlements where constant pressure from the occupying authorities continues and Russian administrations operate.
Among those rescued is a 12-year-old girl who had not left her home for nearly four years to avoid forced attendance at a Russian school. She had been secretly studying online following the Ukrainian curriculum, risking persecution by the occupiers. At any moment, her phone could have been checked, revealing access to Ukrainian educational resources, which would have posed serious consequences for her entire family.
Also returned to Ukraine was a 12-year-old boy who requires ongoing medical treatment. After the occupation of his town by Russian forces, the local hospital effectively ceased to exist—it was closed and looted. Access to medicines and qualified medical supervision was completely lost, making his return to Ukraine-controlled territory critically important for his health.
