In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, drone operators destroyed a Russian tank
Ukrainian border guards destroyed a Russian tank in the South Slobozhanskyi sector before it had a chance to open fire. According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, drone operators quickly detected the armored vehicle and delivered a precision strike, also hitting other targets belonging to the occupying forces.
On July 28, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine released a video showing the destruction of a Russian tank in the Southern Slobozhanskyi sector. According to the State Border Guard Service, the enemy armored vehicle was preparing to carry out a combat mission and was likely intended to shell Ukrainian positions. However, the crew did not have time to carry out their plan.
According to border guards, drone operators from the “Gart” brigade spotted the tank in time as it was moving toward their position. “Enemy tanks are not often encountered in the Southern Slobozhansky direction. And it’s even rarer for them to be moving toward a combat mission site rather than remaining camouflaged in a forest strip,” the State Border Guard Service noted.
The State Border Guard Service reported that at the moment of detection, the tank was rotating its turret, preparing for action. “The tank was just turning its turret. We’ll never know where it intended to aim—the drone operators’ response was instantaneous,” the border guards explained.
After detecting the target, the UAV operators quickly launched a strike, destroying the Russian tank before it could fire a single shot. In addition to the tank, the reconnaissance-strike drone group of the “Gart” Border Guard Brigade also struck other military targets belonging to the Russian occupiers. According to the State Border Guard Service, Ukrainian defenders destroyed warehouses containing fuel, lubricants, and ammunition, several vehicles, as well as a ground-based robotic system used by Russian troops.
The State Border Guard Service emphasizes that drone operators continue to detect and destroy enemy equipment and logistical facilities, inflicting losses on Russian troops before they can carry out their combat missions. A video of the strike was published by the State Border Guard Service.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck four fuel infrastructure facilities in Russia’s Stavropol Krai and also hit three tankers belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” in the Black Sea.
A series of attacks on oil tankers has been reported in the Strait of Hormuz area; at least three vessels are on fire.
