The Pokrovsk sector continues to see the heaviest enemy assaults – General Staff

Since the start of the day on May 31, Russian troops have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 77 times, with the Pokrovsk sector remaining the hottest and most tense section of the front. In addition to conducting active assault operations, the occupiers continue to shell the country’s peaceful border regions. 

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its official update as of 4:00 p.m.

A significant number of border settlements in the north and northeast of the country were again subjected to enemy artillery strikes. In particular, in the Sumy region, Sopych, Bunyakine, Volfyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Yastrubshchyna, Bachivsk, and Malushyne came under heavy Russian artillery fire, while in the Chernihiv region, the invaders shelled the village of Klyusi. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold their defensive lines and repel the enemy’s advance on key fronts.

Five combat engagements took place in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, with one battle still ongoing. Russian forces shelled Ukrainian positions and villages 45 times, using multiple launch rocket systems on two occasions.

In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, the invaders attempted six times to break through the defenses near Lyman and Starytsia. Two fierce battles are ongoing.

On the Kupiansk sector of the front, Russian troops launched three attacks, attempting to push back the Defense Forces near Shyikivka and Kupiansk.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army carried out seven assaults near Kopanok, Novomykolaivka, Drobysheve, Lyman, and Ozerny. Two combat engagements are ongoing.

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled two attempts by the invaders to advance in the Rai-Oleksandrivka area.

In the Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka sectors, no offensive actions by the enemy were recorded.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian units carried out ten attacks, attempting to break through defensive lines near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopil, Rusynove Yar, Mykolaivka, Pleshchiivka, and Stepanivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy attempted 26 times to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vilne, Dorozhne, Bilytske, Rodynske, Oleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Novooleksandrivka, Serhiivka, Kotlyne, and Udachne.

In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces repelled nine attacks in the areas of Zaliznychne, Vozdvyzhivka, Olenokostyantynivka, Huliaipole, and Charivne. One battle is ongoing.

In the Orikhiv sector, the invaders made nine unsuccessful attempts to breach the defensive lines near Shcherbakiv, Bilohirya, Nesterianka, and Stepnogorsk.

In the Dnipro direction, Russian troops made one attempt to advance in the area of the Antonivsky Bridge.

On the rest of the front, there have been no significant changes in the operational situation, and no enemy advances have been recorded.

In the southern sector, Russian troops gradually increased the intensity of combat operations throughout the week, attempting to fulfill their command’s objectives. The most tense situation is currently being observed in the Huliaipole sector
