There are fuel shortages in Crimea

UA NEWS 31 May 2026 14:58
There are fuel shortages in Crimea

Starting May 31, strict restrictions on the sale of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline will take effect in the temporarily occupied Crimea due to acute fuel supply problems.

The crisis has affected most gas stations on the peninsula, forcing local infrastructure to switch to a special operating mode

The measures introduced are primarily aimed at conserving the remaining scarce resources to ensure the functioning of emergency and municipal services.

According to him, AI-95 gasoline will be sold primarily to public and social transport. At some gas stations, this type of fuel will only be available with vouchers.

For private car owners, the conditions for purchasing fuel have become significantly more difficult, and the ability to stock up is currently completely blocked by the occupiers.

At the same time, a limit is being introduced for vehicles using AI-92 gasoline—no more than 20 liters per vehicle per visit to a gas station. Additionally, filling fuel into canisters is temporarily prohibited.

Representatives of the illegal authorities are trying to reassure the local population by promising to resolve the fuel crisis by early summer. Aksyonov stated that they plan to stabilize the fuel supply situation within the next month.

However, there are currently no real prerequisites for a rapid improvement in logistics routes due to ongoing security risks.

Official sources on the peninsula acknowledge that the collapse of the usual system of rail and road transport has become a key factor in the shortage. According to the occupying authorities, the difficulties arose due to disruptions in logistics.

One of the reasons cited is the increased difficulty of transporting fuel via the routes connecting occupied Crimea with Russian territory.
