The tragedy occurred on June 6, 2026, while he was carrying out a difficult combat mission in the Sumy region.
Ihor Bodnar devoted a significant part of his life to professional sports and gained recognition on the international stage. He held the honorary title of Master of Sports of International Class.
The highlight of his athletic career was a silver medal at the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, where he won the award in the 1,500-meter race.

The tragedy occurred while fishing, when the host accidentally caught a high-voltage power line with his fishing rod. As a result, Oleksandr Tynhaiev suffered a powerful electric shock, which caused severe injuries.
