In the Zaporizhzhia region, National Guard troops destroyed 20 Russian air targets during a nighttime attack
During a massive combined attack on Zaporizhzhia on the night of June 1–2, interceptor pilots from the 23rd Brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard, “Khortytsia,” destroyed 20 enemy aerial targets.
According to the brigade, 10 Shahed strike drones, 9 Gerbera drones, and 1 Lancet drone were eliminated during the night attack.
The National Guard emphasized that the unit was operating in air defense mode to protect the city during a massive Russian attack.
Earlier reports indicated that Russian forces had launched at least 20 strikes on Zaporizhzhia using missiles and drones.
The attack damaged critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, and other urban targets.
Ukrainian defense forces continue to repel Russian air attacks and strengthen the defense of frontline regions.
The brigade itself reported this on Facebook, noting that every target shot down means lives saved, homes preserved, and the city’s critical infrastructure protected.
During attacks, Russian strike drones attempt to fly as low to the ground as possible to make them harder for Ukrainian air defense to detect and intercept, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
