Journalist and media designer Ruslan Rudukan was killed in the Zaporizhzhia sector
Ruslan Rudukan, a soldier with the 153rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, journalist, and media designer, was killed in action on the Zaporizhzhia front. The defender of Ukraine was 47 years old.
Ruslan Rudukan was born on April 1, 1979, in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast. In 2001, he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Department of the Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University.
For over 20 years, Rudukan worked in the media in Cherkasy and Uman. In the 2000s, he was published in the newspaper “Press Center,” where he wrote about life in the region, the local economy, and the activities of the authorities.
The journalist also contributed to the publication “Construction and Reconstruction” and other media outlets.
He was particularly interested in Uman’s historical and architectural heritage. Among the topics he wrote about were the city’s underground passages, the condition of historic buildings, research by local historians, and the region’s tourism potential.
At the same time, Ruslan Rudukan worked for many years in graphic design and newspaper layout.
In particular, he worked on issues of “Delovaya Cherkashchyna,” “Cherkasy Region,” “Chernobyl Gazette,” “Native Cherkashchyna,” and “Narodnaya Pravda.”
Colleagues remembered him as a professional who was equally adept at using a journalist’s voice recorder and laying out a newspaper page.
After the full-scale invasion began, Ruslan sent his wife and son to Poland, while he remained in Ukraine and volunteered.
He wanted to enlist in the military, but at first his health did not allow him to serve.
Eventually, Rudukan managed to enlist in the Ukrainian Defense Forces, despite medical diagnoses that should have disqualified him.
In the final months of his life, Ruslan Rudukan was active on social media. His frontline notes were dedicated to his comrades, exhaustion, everyday life at war, and the people who remain human even under the most difficult conditions.
In one of his posts, he wrote about himself:
“I can no longer see myself in civilian life.”
Friends said that he took pride in his work in the military, which was not only physical but also intellectual and, at times, educational.
Ruslan Rudukan was killed in action on the Zaporizhzhia front at the age of 47.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine reported his death, citing relatives of the fallen soldier.
Earlier, Volodymyr Tyrtychny, a soldier and employee of the media company Starlight Media, was killed in battles against Russian occupiers.
Vitaliy Stefan, a historian and soldier from Magury, was killed on the front lines.
Earlier, Oleksiy Yukov, the head of the “Platsdarm” search and rescue team from Sloviansk, was killed.
Prior to that, arm-wrestling champion Ihor Hladkyi was killed on the front lines.
Dmytro Hladirenko, a saxophonist from Chernihiv, was killed on the front lines.
