German HX-2 drones for Ukraine are now being launched from boats
The German HX-2 strike drone is now capable of attacking enemy targets not only from land but also from maritime platforms.
This was reported by Military.
The defense company Helsing has successfully completed tests launching the drone from the deck of a high-speed boat, which significantly expands the tactical capabilities of this weapon.
The testing took place in coastal waters near the British city of Plymouth, where Helsing’s maritime development center is located.
The drone was launched into the air using a special pneumatic catapult installed in the bow of the vessel.
The success of the tests opens a new chapter in maritime operations, particularly those involving unmanned platforms.
Experts suggest that in the future, the HX-2 could be integrated directly into autonomous maritime drones such as the Magura V5.
“We are moving quickly to further expand the HX-2’s operational capabilities, drawing on our battlefield experience in Ukraine,” stated representatives of Helsing. The manufacturer emphasizes the importance of adapting the technology to the conditions of real combat engagements.
For the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this news is of strategic importance, as six thousand such UAVs were contracted back in 2025.
In certain sectors of the front, our soldiers are already actively using this system to neutralize the occupiers’ equipment.
The German HX-2 drone has already proven itself as an effective means of destroying enemy armored vehicles, artillery, and engineering structures of the Russian Federation.
Thanks to its high precision and resistance to interference, it poses a serious threat to the aggressor’s rear facilities.
The main advantage of the HX-2 is its intelligent core—the Altra artificial intelligence system.
It allows the drone to autonomously identify and engage targets even in the complete absence of communication or navigation signals due to electronic warfare (EW) operations.
