Russian forces shell 25 settlements in Sumy region over past day
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops carried out 50 attacks on border and frontline areas of Sumy region, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on Telegram.
As a result of the strikes, four civilians were injured to varying degrees, and significant infrastructure damage was recorded.
The majority of attacks hit Sumy and Shostka districts, where the enemy used a wide range of weapons, including artillery, mortars, multiple launch rocket systems, guided aerial bombs, and various types of drones.
In the Sumy community, a 16-year-old teenager was injured by a drone strike. In addition, two women, aged 38 and 55, and a 60-year-old man were wounded and are receiving necessary medical care.
Damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded in many settlements across the region. In the regional capital, multi-storey residential buildings, administrative offices, a supermarket, warehouse facilities, and private vehicles were affected.
In the Esmanska community, the situation remains critical due to direct hits on residential areas. One private house and an outbuilding were completely destroyed, while several other buildings and infrastructure objects sustained serious damage.
The aggressor also deliberately targeted the region’s agricultural sector, attempting to undermine its economic potential. In the Berezivska community, property belonging to a local agricultural enterprise was hit, causing production losses.
The Hlukhivska and Vorozhbyanska communities were also targeted by Russian artillery and aviation, resulting in damage to several civilian infrastructure facilities essential for the daily lives of residents in the border zone.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration continues to assess the consequences of the shelling and coordinate emergency response services. Residents in border areas are again urged to remain vigilant and use shelters when air raid alerts are announced.
It should be recalled that Russian forces also attacked the Mykolaiv region with drones. In addition, a drone strike hit a residential building in Kostiantynivka, injuring one person.
