Geneva talks: Zelensky reports progress on one track
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported significant progress on the military track following the two-day Geneva talks.
According to the president, military experts from all three sides took a constructive approach and nearly agreed on mechanisms for a ceasefire.
Zelensky explained to journalists that the dialogue was divided into two main tracks: military and political.
“I want to say that all three sides were constructive on the military track. In my view, the military basically understands how to monitor the ceasefire and the end of the war,” the president stated.
A key achievement was the involvement of the U.S. side in future security monitoring processes. Zelensky emphasized that monitoring will take place with U.S. participation, sending a positive signal for stabilizing the front line.
The president noted that more detailed information on technical aspects and specific monitoring locations will be received shortly.
“All other details — where and how to monitor, technical specifics — General Hnatov will provide me with a more comprehensive report upon return,” Zelensky added.
For context, Zelensky previously identified which parties are slowing down the peace talks. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and former U.S. President Donald Trump also discussed the Geneva talks on Ukraine and Iran.
