Former Russian journalist killed near Siversk while fighting against Ukraine
In Donbas, Ukrainian forces eliminated Russian occupier and propagandist Mykola Chyhasov, who previously worked as a journalist for Lenta.ru. He voluntarily went to fight against Ukraine and died as a result of a strike by a Ukrainian drone. His death was reported by Russian propaganda sources themselves.
According to reports, he was killed near Siversk in Donetsk region last autumn, but information about his death was only made public recently. Sources indicate that Chyhasov was directly in the combat zone, carrying out tasks related to countering drones. He was eliminated during an attack by a Ukrainian FPV drone.
Mykola Chyhasov previously worked for the Russian media outlet Lenta.ru, which, after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, has actively spread Kremlin propaganda narratives. Later, he voluntarily joined the combat operations on the side of Russian occupation forces.
The news of his death was commented on by Ukrainian journalist and blogger Denys Kazansky, who briefly wrote: “Propagandist Mykola Chyhasov no longer lies.” Official Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Chyhasov’s elimination.
