Following the attack on Zaporizhzhia, 70 windows were shattered and roofs were damaged
In Zaporizhzhia, at least 17 private homes were damaged as a result of an evening Russian attack; some roofs were destroyed, and dozens of windows were shattered by the shock wave. The city is cleaning up the aftermath of the shelling, residents are filing damage reports, and some roofs have already been temporarily covered with plastic sheeting. This was reported in a Telegram message by Regina Kharchenko, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council.
Following the evening strike by Russian forces in Zaporizhzhia, the residential sector was affected, with damage recorded in at least 17 residential buildings, and the shockwave shattered about 70 windows and partially destroyed roofs.
Regina Kharchenko, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, reported that the roofs of nine buildings were damaged, and some of them have already been temporarily covered to protect the homes from further destruction and inclement weather. “Utility workers quickly covered the roofs of three buildings with plastic sheeting,” she noted, adding that the city is working to stabilize the situation for residents as quickly as possible.
The call center received 17 reports from people who reported broken windows, doors, and damaged roofs, and a total of 20 affected homes have been entered into a special registry; however, evacuation of residents has not been necessary at this time.
Separately, it is reported that the strike caused a fire at one of the city’s industrial facilities, and rescue workers and emergency services are currently continuing to assess the extent of the damage and potential consequences for the infrastructure.
