After the strike on the Chongar Bridge, the occupiers closed off access to Crimea

After the strike on the Chongar Bridge, the occupiers closed off access to Crimea

Last night, drones struck the Chongar Bridge, which is one of the key transport routes between the temporarily occupied Crimea and mainland Ukraine. Following the attack, traffic across the bridge was blocked, and the occupying administration recommended using alternative routes.

What happened to the bridge

According to a report from the occupiers, on the night of June 9, drones struck the Chongar Bridge—a crossing over the Syvash Bay that connects Crimea with mainland Ukraine.

Traffic across the bridge has been blocked. Relevant services are working at the site.

"I ask drivers to use alternative routes via Armiansk and Perekop," Saldo wrote.

Defense Ministry adviser Serhiy Sternenko writes that the Defense Forces launched a second strike on the Chongar Bridge, which leads to the so-called Crimea.

As a result of the attack, traffic has been completely blocked.

According to Saldo, the occupying air defense forces intercepted more than 20 drones approaching the bridge.

"Most of the targets were destroyed while still approaching. Thank you to our defenders for their work. Without their actions, the consequences could have been much more serious," he noted.

Why Chongar is so important

The Chongar Bridge is the shortest and most convenient route between Crimea and the mainland. Occupation forces used it to transport equipment and ammunition from the peninsula to the southern front.

The alternatives—routes through Armyansk and Perekop—are longer and more logistically complex.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have eliminated 1,380 occupiers and hundreds of pieces of equipment.

Ukrainian defense forces continue to successfully hold the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, which is strategically important to Russia as a gateway to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Thanks to the coordinated actions of units integrated into the Third Army Corps, the situation has been fully stabilized, and the enemy has been pushed significantly further from the outskirts.

Russian invaders significantly intensified their offensive operations along the entire front line, engaging in 240 combat clashes with Ukrainian defenders during the 24-hour period of June 7.
