Poland and Latvia scrambled military aircraft in response to a threat in the air
On September 21, Poland and Latvia put their military aviation on alert amid reports of an air threat. In Poland, this occurred during the Russian attack on Ukraine, while in Latvia, the alert concerned the Kraslava region.
The Polish military launched military aviation operations in its airspace in response to Russian strikes on Ukraine. According to the Polish military command, these measures are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the security of the country’s airspace. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were also placed on alert.
Residents of the Lublin Voivodeship received an emergency alert from the government’s Security Center. The alert stated that a Russian air attack is underway in Ukraine and that Polish aircraft are operating in Polish airspace.
People were urged to monitor further updates. No additional actions were required at the time the alert was issued.
