More than 200 attacks in a single day, with the heaviest fighting near Pokrovsk
Since the start of the day, Russian troops have carried out 217 attacks along the entire front line. The heaviest fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk and Kostyantynivka sectors. Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the offensive and inflicting casualties on the enemy. This is according to a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian troops continue to apply pressure on the front and are attempting to advance. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 4:00 PM on March 17, 217 attacks were recorded across various sectors. Ukrainian troops are holding their positions and thwarting these attempts. “Defense forces are holding back the enemy, inflicting significant losses on them and thwarting attempts to improve their position,” the report states.
Meanwhile, shelling of border areas continues. In the Sumy region, Trudove, Korenok, Iskryskivshchyna, Atynske, Ryzhivka, Khodine, Budky, Sopych, and Shalyhine came under fire. Zarichchia in the Chernihiv region was also shelled.
North and Kharkiv Region
Three clashes occurred in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions. The enemy carried out 66 attacks, ten of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
The situation in the Kharkiv region remains tense. Nine attacks were recorded in the Southern Slobozhanskyi sector—in the areas of Vovchansk, Pishchane, as well as in the directions of Okhrimivka and Bochkove. Some of the fighting is still ongoing.
There were 11 attacks in the Kupiansk direction. Fighting took place near Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Hlushevka, and Novoplatonivka.
East
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four attacks. One battle is still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attacked five times—near Platonivka, Zakitne, and toward Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, two assault attempts near Minkivka and Novomarkove were successfully repelled.
The situation is particularly tense in the Kostiantynivka sector. There, the occupiers carried out 36 attacks in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopil, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka, and other settlements. Several battles are ongoing.
The highest number of attacks occurred in the Pokrovsk direction. There, the enemy attempted 57 times to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. Battles took place simultaneously in several areas, including near Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Shevchenko, and other settlements.
South
Two attacks were recorded in the Oleksandrivka direction. The Orestopol area also came under airstrike.
In the Huliaipole sector, 20 attacks occurred in the Dobropillia area. Additionally, the enemy carried out airstrikes on several settlements, including Vozdvizhivka, Yegorivka, and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks near Stepove. Veselyanka and Orikhiv came under fire.
In the Dnipro sector, the enemy made one attempt to advance near Bilohrudyi Island, but without success.
In other sectors of the front, the situation has not changed significantly. No new offensive attempts have been recorded there.
