Museums and a dormitory damaged as a result of the Russian attack

Russian strikes on Dnipro and Odesa have damaged cultural landmarks and a student dormitory. In Dnipro, a museum and historic buildings were damaged, while in Odesa, student housing at the music academy was hit. There are injuries. Some people had to be evacuated. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.

 

Following another attack by Russian forces, several important sites in Dnipro and Odesa were damaged. These include both cultural heritage sites and student housing.

In Dnipro, several historic buildings were hit. Among them is the Mining Institute building, which has the status of a national monument. The Dnipropetrovsk Art Museum, an apartment building on Shevchenko Street, and a complex of educational institutions belonging to the Construction Institute were also damaged.

 

The Ministry of Culture notes that the damage has been visually assessed so far, and a detailed inspection is planned for the coming days. “The damage has been visually assessed. The city plans to conduct a detailed inspection of the sites on April 17,” the ministry reported.

 

In Odesa, the dormitory of the Nezhdanova Odesa National Music Academy was seriously damaged as a result of the attack. About a hundred windows were shattered in the building, doors and bathrooms were damaged, and a fire broke out after the strike.

Five students sustained shrapnel wounds. All received medical care. Part of the building became uninhabitable, so the students had to be urgently evacuated and relocated to other locations.

The Ministry of Culture adds that, together with relevant agencies, they are currently assessing the damage and organizing further restoration efforts. Support is also being provided to those affected.

 

In total, according to official data, since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, over 1,700 cultural heritage sites and more than 2,500 cultural infrastructure facilities have been damaged or destroyed.

On the evening of April 14, Russian occupiers launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized most of the targets, but some hits were recorded.

In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers discovered the warhead of a Russian Iskander-K missile. A controlled destruction of the munition is planned at the site.

On the night of April 15, three people were injured in Dnipro and the surrounding region as a result of Russian drone strikes, and damage to civilian infrastructure was reported.
