Ukraine’s air defence shot down and suppressed 53 enemy drones overnight, hits recorded
On the night of January 6, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using 61 strike unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed and Gerbera types.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To repel the air attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine were engaged.
According to preliminary data from the Air Force, as of 08:30 Ukraine’s air defence had shot down or suppressed 53 enemy drones.
At the same time, hits by eight strike UAVs were recorded at six locations. Information on the consequences of the strikes and possible damage is being clarified.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasised that the enemy continues to terrorise civilian infrastructure, however Ukraine’s air defence system is demonstrating high effectiveness in countering drone attacks.
Russian forces also carried out a series of strikes on the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, using artillery and FPV drones.
