Air defense forces shot down 124 drones and three "Banderole" drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine
On the night of August 15, Russia attacked Ukraine with 152 strike drones and “Banderole” munitions. Air defense forces shot down 124 drones and three “Banderole” munitions, but strikes were recorded at 16 locations.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian attack began around 6:00 p.m. on August 14. In total, the occupiers launched 152 aerial targets. Among them were Shahed strike UAVs, including jet-powered ones, “Gerbera” drones, “Banderole” loitering munitions, and “Parody” decoy drones.
The Russians launched drones from the Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions. Some of the drones were also launched from the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk. The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems. Mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces also joined the operation.
Air defense forces destroyed and neutralized 127 targets
According to preliminary data, as of 9:00 a.m. on August 15, Ukrainian air defense had neutralized 124 drones and three “Banderole” drones. Air targets were shot down and neutralized in the north, south, and east of Ukraine.
However, the attack could not be completely repelled. The Air Force recorded hits at 16 locations. Debris from downed Russian targets fell at one additional location.
The attack was still ongoing
At the time this report was published, the Russian attack had not yet ended. Several enemy drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.
The Air Force continued to monitor the situation and coordinate with other units of the Defense Forces. Thus, last night, Russia launched yet another large-scale wave of drone attacks. The Ukrainian military managed to neutralize most of the aerial targets, but some of the drones reached their targets, according to a Telegram post by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Over the past day, the Russian army lost another 1,370 soldiers in Ukraine. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the start of the full-scale war, Russia’s total personnel losses have already reached approximately 1,465,810.
On the front lines over the past day, August 14, there were 233 combat engagements between Ukrainian troops and Russian occupiers. The Russians actively used aircraft and drones: they carried out 71 airstrikes, dropped 241 guided bombs, and launched 10,626 kamikaze drones.
In Samara, Russia, a fire broke out at the “CSKB-Progress” facility following an attack. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the plant manufactures medium-class launch vehicles and unmanned space vehicles.
