Law enforcement officers detained a Russian agent in the Kyiv region
The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed and detained a 40-year-old resident of the Kyiv region who was working for hostile intelligence services.
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect collected and transmitted the coordinates of military facilities to the occupiers, and also tracked the movements of Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment to prepare for future strikes.
The investigation established that the detainee voluntarily began collaborating with the enemy in February 2026.
Through the Telegram messenger, he established contact with a representative of the aggressor state’s intelligence services, who offered him monetary compensation for carrying out specific tasks.
“Subsequently, the man filmed videos showing the locations of military equipment and personnel and transmitted this material to the representative of the Russian Federation,” the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office noted, emphasizing that the suspect was fully aware of the nature of his activities.
The agent’s primary task was to video-record the deployment locations of Ukrainian defenders and transmit the precise coordinates of troop movement routes.
The Russian occupiers planned to use the information obtained to adjust missile and drone attacks in the region.
For his work, the traitor received regular payments, which were deposited into his accounts in both hryvnia and cryptocurrency.
However, his hope for impunity did not materialize—SBU operatives caught the man “red-handed” while he was carrying out another assignment at the end of March.
Currently, the suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail, in accordance with a court ruling.
Law enforcement officials have gathered sufficient evidence to bring charges under the article on treason committed under martial law.
Russian agents who set fires in cities were exposed in Dnipro and Odesa.
As a reminder, the SBU detained a Russian strike coordinator in Chernivtsi.
The SBU also exposed a Russian spy network that was planning terrorist attacks using teenagers.
