US President actively facilitating peace between Kyiv and Moscow — White House

US President Donald Trump is personally overseeing trilateral negotiations aimed at ending hostilities in Ukraine.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasised his key role during a recent briefing.

Trump’s advisers — Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff — regularly brief the president on developments in the talks.

The meeting in Abu Dhabi on 23–24 January marked a breakthrough: for the first time, representatives of the United States, Ukraine and Russia sat down together in this format.

Leavitt described the meeting as “historic”, noting that it succeeded in bringing the parties to the conflict together to discuss peace. Although the event received limited media coverage, it laid the groundwork for further dialogue.

The negotiations began in an introductory format, with expanded delegations joining by Saturday. The parties focused on political and military tracks.

The greatest progress was made on the military track, where issues such as force disengagement and ceasefire monitoring were discussed, while territorial disputes remained unresolved.

It is recalled that Trump recently praised British soldiers following earlier criticism of their involvement in the war in Afghanistan.

Trump has also filed a $5 billion lawsuit against JPMorgan.
