Border guards destroyed a rare Russian "Skat 450M" drone
Fighters from the "Strix" unmanned systems unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine shot down a rare Russian "Skat 450M" reconnaissance drone in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna region.
According to military officials, this type of drone is one of the most valuable assets at the disposal of the occupying forces.
The Border Guard Service emphasized that the “Skat 450M” is a rather rare target on the front lines, and its destruction marks another success for Ukrainian defenders.
“A rare trophy: border guards from the ‘Strix’ unit destroyed a second rare enemy ‘Skat 450M’ reconnaissance drone in the Southern Slobozhanskyi sector,” the military noted.
According to the State Border Guard Service, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have destroyed no more than 20 such drones since the start of the full-scale war.
“Over the entire duration of the war, the Defense Forces have shot down no more than 20 such drones. The destruction of two rare systems at once by a single unit is a unique occurrence and an objective indicator of the effectiveness of our air defense operations,” the agency emphasized.
The Russian “Skat 450M” drone performs a number of important tasks on the battlefield:
- Conducting in-depth reconnaissance behind Ukrainian lines;
- Correcting artillery and missile fire;
- Transmitting reconnaissance data for planning combat operations;
- Monitoring the positions and movements of Ukrainian troops.
In addition to its functionality, this system is also distinguished by its high cost. According to experts, the price of a single “Skat 450M” system can reach approximately $400,000.
The destruction of such rare reconnaissance platforms weakens the Russian forces’ capabilities for gathering intelligence and directing fire, while also inflicting significant material losses on the enemy.
The State Border Guard Service press office reported on the successful combat operation, releasing a video of the enemy vehicle being destroyed.
Soldiers from the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems Forces conducted an operation at Donetsk Airport, which Russian troops use as a military logistics hub. During the operation, Russian drone crews, air defense units, as well as warehouses and other facilities used by the occupiers to support combat operations were struck.
Defense forces struck the Elastic gunpowder factory and a number of Russian military facilities.
On the night of June 3, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a large-scale long-range operation, striking a number of strategically important targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.
