Russia attacked Ukraine with more than 200 drones and missiles; air defense forces destroyed 198 targets

On the night of June 4, Russian forces launched a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, deploying two guided air-to-ground missiles and 216 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. Air defense forces shot down 198 enemy drones.

According to the military, the attack began on the evening of June 4. The Russian army launched two X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as 216 strike and support drones, including Shahed, “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” “Banderol” loitering munitions, and “Parody” decoy drones.

“On the night of June 5 (starting at 6:00 p.m. on June 4), the enemy attacked with two X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles from the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and 216 Shahed-type strike UAVs (including jet-powered ones), Gerbera, Italmas, “Banderol” loitering munitions, and “Parody”-type decoy drones from the following directions: Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — Russian Federation, Chauda — temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the Air Force noted.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.

As of 07:30, Ukrainian defenders had neutralized 198 enemy drones in the north, east, and south of the country. Some of the targets were shot down, while others were suppressed by electronic warfare systems.

At the same time, 16 strike drones were recorded hitting 13 locations, and debris from downed targets fell in 12 settlements and areas.

The Air Force emphasized that both X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles failed to reach their targets.

“The attack is ongoing; there are several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety guidelines,” the Air Force added.

Despite the significant number of aerial targets neutralized, Russian forces continue to employ combined strike tactics, combining missiles, strike drones, and decoy drones to overwhelm the Ukrainian air defense system.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to inflict significant losses on the Russian army. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past 24 hours, 1,550 Russian soldiers were killed, along with a number of enemy vehicles and weapons.

Russia may announce another mobilization this fall amid the difficult situation on the Ukrainian front, the failure of the winter-spring offensive, and significant losses. This was stated by State Duma Deputy Andrei Gurulov, who linked the possible decision to Russia’s military setbacks in the war against Ukraine.

A new mobilization in Russia could harm Moscow, according to intelligence reports.
