He arrived in Russia in the spring and was killed in the Donetsk region — the Main Intelligence Directorate has identified a mercenary from the Philippines

Ukrainian military intelligence has identified a Filipino citizen who fought on Russia’s side and was killed in the Donetsk region. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the mercenary arrived in Russia in April and was killed in combat in May.

Intelligence officials noted that identifying him was made possible by analyzing available data and documents. The information gathered confirms the foreign national’s participation in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russian forces.

“The mercenary was placed at the ‘Avangard’ center—an institution for the military-patriotic education of youth. On May 3, the Filipino signed a one-year contract with the occupying army, after which he was sent for training. Like other foreign mercenaries, he didn’t stay there long—he was there for about a week,” the Main Intelligence Directorate reported.

By approximately mid-May, the Filipino was already on the front lines.

"At the end of the month, he was killed during a senseless assault near the village of Katerynivka in Donetsk Oblast, located near the junction of Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Luhansk Oblasts.

The mercenary deliberately ignored the warnings of the Philippine government and local laws, lured by the chance to make “easy” money. Ultimately, he paid for his decision with his life,” the statement reads.

Data from the “I Want to Live” project indicate that at least two Filipinos have been killed in the war against Russia, and another is being held captive.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Mercenaries from 51 countries have been taken prisoner by Ukraine.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops attacked several regions of Ukraine simultaneously. At least six people were killed and another 56 were wounded as a result of the shelling. Among those killed in Sumy were two children and a woman.
