Putin Is Not Ready to Make Concessions in the War — Klimkin

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is not currently willing to soften his stance on the war against Ukraine, and that pressure alone is not enough to change his decisions.

According to the diplomat, Putin continues to act according to his own logic and views the war as his historic mission. That is why, in Klimkin’s opinion, he is not ready for real compromises or negotiations.

At the same time, Klimkin emphasized that international pressure on Russia must be intensified, though it does not in itself guarantee results, since the Kremlin leader “lives in his own reality.”

The diplomat also recalled Putin’s recent statements regarding Ukraine’s western territories, which, in his view, demonstrate that the Kremlin’s strategic goals remain unchanged.
