Reuters: Putin Rejected the Idea of a Ceasefire Along the Front Lines

Vladimir Putin has no plans to end the war against Ukraine and seeks to establish control over the entire Donbas region. Despite proposals for a ceasefire along the current front lines, the Kremlin, according to sources, is set on further escalation.

According to three sources close to the Kremlin who spoke with the agency, Putin does not support the idea of peace talks with Kyiv. One of the sources claims that the Russian leader recently criticized advisers who had proposed a ceasefire along the current front lines.

The sources also believe there is a high probability of a new escalation of the war in the coming months. According to them, Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian infrastructure have not changed the Kremlin’s position but have only strengthened its resolve to continue hostilities.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Reuters that Russia is allegedly ready for a peaceful settlement but intends to continue the war.

According to a senior Ukrainian official, Ukrainian intelligence is also monitoring Russia’s preparations for new military operations.
