The director of *Taras Bulba* has been notified that he is under investigation for calling for a nuclear strike against Ukraine
The Office of the Prosecutor General announced that it had charged Russian director, screenwriter, and former State Duma deputy Vladimir Bortko. According to the investigation, he systematically justified Russian aggression against Ukraine and disseminated Kremlin propaganda.
The prosecutor’s office noted that Bortko publicly supported the occupation of Ukrainian territories, endorsed the continuation of the war, and called for the use of tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine to achieve the goals of the so-called “special military operation.”
Vladimir Bortko is known as the director of the films and TV series *Heart of a Dog*, *The Idiot*, *The Master and Margarita*, *Taras Bulba*, and *Gangster Petersburg*. He previously served as a deputy in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
He is charged with promoting war and redistributing materials that justify and legitimize Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
