Russia is stepping up its offensive on several fronts and employing new tactics in the Kharkiv region, according to the ISW

Russian forces are continuing their offensive operations on several fronts simultaneously, attempting to establish so-called “buffer zones” and advance deeper into Ukrainian territory. In the Kharkiv region, the occupiers are employing new tactical approaches.

This is according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to analysts, Russian troops continue active combat operations near the Sumy region, particularly near the border. The primary objective is said to be the creation of a “buffer zone.”

At the same time, Ukrainian forces are delivering precision strikes on enemy positions. In particular, a command and observation post in the Tyotkino area of the Kursk region and a concentration of enemy forces near Sopych were struck.

In the Kharkiv direction, the occupiers attempted to advance north and northeast of Kharkiv, but did not achieve any confirmed successes.

A new tactic has been observed—the active use of motorcycles for rapid assaults, particularly in the Vovchanskiy Khutory area. Ukrainian forces repelled these attacks.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted to infiltrate the city area, particularly through gas pipelines and from the direction of Holubivka and Kivsharivka, but no advance was recorded.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces are striking Russian rear facilities in the Luhansk region—an ammunition depot, a command post, and troop concentration areas have been destroyed.

In the Donetsk region, fighting is ongoing in several areas simultaneously. In the Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka areas, Ukrainian forces are not only repelling attacks but also conducting counteroffensives.

Meanwhile, Russian troops are attempting to advance toward Pokrovsk, where, according to the ISW, they have achieved limited success. There, the occupiers are increasing the number of assault groups, taking advantage of unfavorable weather conditions.

In the south, Russia is carrying out limited attacks and attempting to hold its positions, but is simultaneously facing strikes from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukrainian forces are striking equipment depots, command posts, and drone control positions in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson region, the enemy continues shelling and using drones against the civilian population.

Total combat losses of Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have reached approximately 1,325,650 personnel, including 960 over the past 24 hours.

Since the start of the day, Russian troops have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 62 times.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi instructed group commanders and corps commanders stationed on the front lines to conduct an inspection of military logistics by May 20.

Military analysts report that Russian occupiers are advancing in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region.
