Russia attacked Kyiv, Poltava, and Sumy with drones and ballistic missiles
On the morning of June 18, Russian troops launched another attack on Ukraine using strike drones. Explosions were heard in at least Kyiv, Poltava, and Sumy.
At around 4:03 a.m., an air raid alert was issued in the capital due to the threat of enemy drones. The city’s military administration urged residents to immediately proceed to shelters and remain there until the danger had passed.
Shortly thereafter, the military reported drones in the Boryspil area moving toward Kyiv. By around 4:30 a.m., residents of the capital could hear air defense systems in action.
At the same time, explosions were reported in Poltava and Sumy. According to the Air Force, a group of attack drones was moving toward Poltava, while guided bombs were detected being launched in the Sumy region.
As of this morning, air raid alerts remained in effect in several regions of the country. Specifically, alerts were issued in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.
This is not the first enemy attack in the past 24 hours. Overnight, the Russian army also launched ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv and Poltava. Powerful explosions were heard in both cities. Information regarding potential consequences and damage is being verified at the time of publication.
As a reminder, Russian troops have previously carried out massive combined attacks on Ukraine, using various types of missiles and attack drones. The Ukrainian capital remains one of the main targets of such strikes.

The day before, a Russian FPV drone struck a vehicle belonging to the 61st mobile unit of Ukrposhta in the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The enemy attack occurred just as the vehicle was leaving its base, resulting in the driver sustaining a leg injury.
Russian troops launched a drone strike on the “Nova Poshta” sorting terminal in Sumy Oblast. The attack damaged the property of thousands of the company’s customers.
