Russia attacks Nizhyn with ballistic missiles, causing injuries and major damage
On 18 February, Russian forces struck the civilian infrastructure of Nizhyn in Chernihiv region with ballistic missiles.
This was reported by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, on Telegram.
A local resident was injured as a result of the attack.
“The explosion heard in Nizhyn yesterday afternoon was a ballistic strike on civilian infrastructure. A 49-year-old man was injured by shrapnel. He is currently under medical supervision,” Chaus stated.
The head of the administration also noted that Russian forces are increasingly targeting transport infrastructure. According to him, over the past day, “Geran-1” strikes were recorded in Koriukivka and Nizhyn districts, as well as in two villages of the Snovska community, where an outbuilding caught fire and residential houses were damaged.
In the Novhorod-Siverskyi community, a former school building caught fire in its canteen and library after being hit by a drone. Overall, according to Chaus, Russian forces carried out 43 strikes across the region over the past day, causing 93 explosions.
Previously, Russian occupation forces shelled the Lozova community, damaging the city’s largest boiler house and key water supply facilities.
Russian forces also attacked two districts of Dnipropetrovsk region with artillery and drones. Additionally, Russian drones carried out massive strikes on civilian infrastructure in Sumy.
