Russia attacks Zaporizhzhia with drones: one person killed, homes damaged
On the evening of 17 February, Russian forces carried out a drone strike on Zaporizhzhia. Residential buildings were damaged as a result of the attack. According to preliminary information, one person was killed. Civilian infrastructure was also reported damaged and destroyed.
This was reported with reference to the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, on Telegram.
According to initial reports, a Shahed-type drone strike damaged windows and façades of residential buildings in the city. At first, it was reported that one woman had been injured, but it was later confirmed that she died from her injuries.
In addition, residents of Zaporizhzhia region were warned about the threat of further attacks, including possible ballistic missile strikes. Citizens are urged not to ignore air raid alerts and to remain in shelters until the all-clear is given.
Information regarding the total number of casualties and the scale of the damage is being clarified. Emergency services are working at the scene.
Fedorov later уточнив that six people are currently known to have been injured as a result of the Russian strike on the city. Among them were two children who required medical assistance.
All those injured will continue treatment on an outpatient basis after receiving medical care.
Attacks on Zaporizhzhia
Zaporizhzhia remains one of the regions most frequently targeted by hostile attacks with severe consequences. Drones, missiles, and at times guided aerial bombs have struck infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, vehicles, petrol stations, businesses and, most importantly, civilians.
Earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia reduced routes to Zaporizhzhia.
