Confirmed Russian military casualties in the war against Ukraine have already exceeded 216,000.
This is reported by the BBC Russian Service.
In particular, more than 18,000 deaths have been recorded among residents of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan alone—that is 20% more than the total losses of the USSR during the 10-year war in Afghanistan.
These two regions rank first in terms of confirmed casualties, largely due to the active work of local volunteers who collect data.
When considering the casualty rate relative to the male population, Tuva, Buryatia, and Altai have the highest figures—they are dozens of times higher than those in Moscow.
According to journalists, the deaths of over 7,000 Russian officers have also been confirmed, most of whom were junior commanders.
At the same time, it is noted that actual losses may be significantly higher, as open sources cover only a portion of the casualties. Experts estimate that the actual number of casualties could range from over 330,000 to nearly half a million people.
The occupiers are shelling Vovchansk to capture the city and its surroundings, according to the "Forpost" brigade.
Ukrainian troops recently advanced in the Donetsk region. This refers to the area between Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka, where the Defense Forces were able to improve their positions.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Russian army has lost approximately 1,271,350 troops. In the last 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated another 950 occupiers.
