Russia does not possess sufficient stocks of Iskander-M ballistic missiles to carry out daily strikes against Ukraine.
Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, said this in an interview with journalist Daryna Trunova.
As he emphasized, the Defense Forces are completely dependent on partners when it comes to shooting down such missiles: “There’s a problem with ballistics. We are concerned about ballistic missiles, so we are 100 percent dependent on foreign partners. We know that we have the 'Patriot,' which can counter ballistic missiles. And however many missiles we are given, that is how many Russian ballistic missiles we will be able to shoot down," Flash noted.
According to him, Russian manufacturers produce approximately 60 missiles of this type per month, which limits Russia’s ability to use them regularly in massive attacks.
The Russians’ main ballistic weapon is the “Iskander,” the adviser noted. According to him, they produce about 60 such missiles per month. At the same time, they use them not only for strikes on Kyiv: “These 60 missiles need to be used across the entire front line. Combat operations are not limited to Kyiv. They are actively trying to find targets on the front lines and attack them,” Beskrestnov emphasized.
He noted that while Ukraine has a limit on missiles for the “Patriot,” the Russians’ limit is tied to the production capacity of the factories that manufacture “Iskanders.” According to him, it is impossible to rapidly accelerate missile production.
At the same time, he said, the situation regarding the interception of Russian cruise missiles is better: "We have a bit of a head start here."
