During the "Easter truce," Russia stockpiled missiles and drones for massive strikes, according to the ISW
Russia likely used the so-called “Easter truce” on April 11–12 to stockpile missiles and drones for further large-scale attacks on Ukraine.
This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts note that the pause in hostilities may have given the Russian army an advantage, as its airstrike tactics rely on stockpiling munitions and attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense system.
The ISW also notes that Russia has employed similar tactics before—notably during the large-scale attack on March 23–24, when nearly a thousand missiles and drones were launched at Ukraine.
Experts emphasize that massive strikes often coincide with political events or negotiations, particularly on the eve of or following international contacts involving the United States.
As a reminder, during the so-called “Easter truce,” Russia announced a temporary ceasefire, but subsequently continued its missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian territory on multiple occasions.
Russia continues to shell Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
On the night of April 17, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the Odesa region using strike drones. The shelling damaged port, transportation, and residential infrastructure.
In addition, Russian occupation forces once again struck critical infrastructure facilities in the Chernihiv region. Energy company facilities were targeted.
On the morning of April 17, Russian forces carried out an attack on Dnipro, resulting in a fire.
Starting in the evening of April 14, Russian occupiers launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, using 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 324 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized most of the targets, but some hits were recorded.
In the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers discovered the warhead of a Russian Iskander-K missile. A controlled destruction of the munition is planned at the site.
On the night of April 15, three people were injured in Dnipro and the surrounding region as a result of Russian drone strikes, and damage to civilian infrastructure was reported.
