Russia strikes Mykilske village in Zaporizhzhia with aerial bomb, children injured

The Russian army carried out an airstrike on the village of Mykilske in the Polohy District of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, using a guided aerial bomb (KAB).

This was reported by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, on the evening of January 6, 2026.

As a result of the explosion, a private residential house was completely destroyed, and a passenger car was damaged. Four members of one family sustained injuries of varying severity: a 42-year-old man, 38-year-old woman, 10-year-old girl, and 7-year-old boy.

All the injured are receiving the necessary medical assistance in healthcare facilities of the region. The attack on Mykilske was part of a massive bombardment of Zaporizhzhia Oblast throughout the day, during which the occupiers also used aerial bombs on the village of Yuliivka in Zaporizhzhia District, where a 42-year-old man was killed. In total, on January 6, the enemy carried out hundreds of strikes on peaceful settlements in the region, using artillery, drones, and aviation.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have already initiated an investigation for violations of the laws and customs of war. Investigators are documenting the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Polohy District, which will become part of the evidence base for international courts. Given the intensity of strikes with guided aerial bombs, the local authorities urge residents of frontline communities to be extremely careful and to follow safety rules during air raid alerts.
