Russia attacks Ukrainian positions 67 times in a day; hottest directions – Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk
Since the start of the day, the Russian army has shelled Ukrainian defensive positions 67 times. The highest enemy activity has been recorded in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk directions, where the main efforts are concentrated.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, providing operational information as of 16:00 on Monday, March 16.
Russian forces today shelled Budky, Iskryskivshchyna, Korenok, Kozache, Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Ulanove, Tovstodubove, and Baranivka in Sumy Oblast, as well as Khrinivka and Semenivka in Chernihiv Oblast.
On the North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Russians shelled settlements and Ukrainian positions 44 times, including once with multiple rocket launchers. The defenders report “certain tactical successes” on this part of the front.
On the South Slobozhansky direction, the occupiers attacked once in the area of Starytsia.
On the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army attempted six times to improve its position near Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Hlushkivka, and Novoosynove.
On the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attempts to advance toward Borova, Petropavlivka, Drobysheve, and Lyman.
On the Sloviansk direction, the Russian army tried three times to advance on Ukrainian positions toward Platonivka, Yampil, and Riznykivka. One assault is ongoing.
On the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked once near Minkivka.
On the Kostiantynivka direction, the occupiers carried out 21 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Stepankivka, Rusynyi Yar, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka. Two battles are ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, Russian troops tried 18 times to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in Bilytske, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Myrnohrad, Shevchenko, Hryshyne, Udachne, Kotlyne, and Filiia. Two enemy attacks are ongoing.
On the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy advanced three times toward Danylivka and Zlahoda.
On the Huliaipole direction, Russians carried out nine attacks near Zaliznychne, Myrne, Zelenyi, and Charivne. One battle is ongoing.
From the air, the occupiers struck Vozdvyzhivka, Huliaipole, Dolynka, Lisne, Kopani, and Charivne.
On the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces conducted no offensive actions today.
On the Prydniprovsk direction, the enemy also did not attempt to storm, but carried out airstrikes on Prydniprovsk, Tomyna Balka, and Lvivove.
On other frontlines, the situation has not significantly changed. No attempts by Russian forces to advance have been recorded.
The Ukrainian military continues to wear down the occupiers along the entire contact line and in the rear.
Russia has promised not to recruit Kenyans to fight in Ukraine. The Kremlin has prohibited recruiting mercenaries from “friendly” countries.
In December, Russia recruited over 150 foreigners from 25 countries, with around 200 more preparing to join, according to the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko.
