Russia launched 141 drones at Ukraine: air defence destroyed most of the targets
On the night of 6 March, Russian forces carried out a massive drone attack against the territory of Ukraine. In total, the enemy launched 141 strike drones from seven different directions. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, most of the enemy unmanned aerial vehicles failed to reach their targets, as they were destroyed by air defence forces.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
Despite the effective work of air defence, more than 20 strikes were recorded in different regions of the country. Debris from downed drones was also reported in several regions.
According to the military, from 18:00 on 5 March until the morning of 6 March, Russian forces attacked with 141 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas types, as well as other types of unmanned aerial vehicles. They were launched from Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske and Chauda in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Around 100 of the launched drones were Shahed-type drones.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data as of 08:30, air defence shot down or suppressed 111 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types, in the north, south and east of the country.
Strikes by 24 attack drones were recorded at 16 locations. Debris from downed drones fell at one location.
“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Follow safety rules,” the Air Force warned.
The European Union has warned about the depletion of global air defence stockpiles due to Iran.
Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz to vessels belonging to “hostile states”.
It should be recalled that Israel is verifying information about nearly 150 people killed following a strike on a school in Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced the start of an offensive operation against Israel and United States military bases.
In addition, United States President Donald Trump responded to Iran’s statements about a “retaliatory strike”.
Earlier, United States President Donald Trump stated that the strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran had been effective. According to him, they could open the way to a diplomatic settlement.
