Russia launches over 700 strikes on Zaporizhzhia region; one killed, one injured
Russian forces carried out a massive attack on the Zaporizhzhia region over the past 24 hours, launching hundreds of strikes on settlements across the area. Civilian casualties were reported as a result of the shelling.
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.
“One person was killed and one injured as a result of an enemy attack on Polohy district. In total, over the past day, the occupiers carried out 736 strikes on 39 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region,” he said.
According to Fedorov, Russian forces conducted 20 air strikes on Veselianka, Orikhiv, Huliaipilske, Dolynka, Yehorivka, Shyroke, Lisne, Rivne, Liubytske, Barvynivka, Svitla Dolyna, Kopani, Zelena Dibrova, Vozdvyzhivka, and Preobrazhenka.
In addition, 408 drones of various types, mainly FPV drones, targeted dozens of settlements, including Bilenke, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Mali Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Myrne, Hirke, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Pryluky, Tsvitkove, and Vilnianka.
Seven strikes from multiple launch rocket systems were also recorded, targeting Zaporizhzhia, Zaliznychne, Myrne, and Mala Tokmachka. A further 301 artillery strikes hit a number of frontline settlements across the region.
At least 66 reports were received of damage to residential buildings, outbuildings, infrastructure, and vehicles.
The situation in the region remains tense due to ongoing shelling by Russian forces.
On the evening of 17 March, Russian occupying forces struck civilian infrastructure in the settlement of Slatyne using a drone.
On Tuesday, 17 March, Russian troops attacked the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region with an FPV drone. The strike hit a residential building directly, damaging its facade.
Over the past day, 16 March 2026, border communities in the Chernihiv region were also subjected to attacks by Russian forces.
