Russia Strikes Border Communities in Chernihiv, Damages Energy Infrastructure
On 16 March 2026, border communities in Chernihiv region came under attacks by Russian forces, according to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the regional military administration.
Drone strikes damaged a district court, an agricultural enterprise, residential buildings, and energy infrastructure. Overnight, Russian forces struck shops in Novhorod-Siverskyi with Geran drones, causing a fire that was extinguished by emergency responders. Nearby homes and power lines were damaged, leaving nearly 200 consumers without electricity and causing intermittent gas outages.






Rescue teams worked on-site to mitigate the consequences of the attacks.
Separately, Russian forces carried out strikes in Kherson region, resulting in one death and nine injuries. Russia has also targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing power outages, and attacked Odesa region with drones, damaging port facilities.
