Russia attacked Ukraine with 149 “Shahed” drones, most targets shot down by air defense

On the night of December 8, Russia carried out another massive attack on Ukraine, using 149 strike drones. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully destroyed the majority of the drones.

This was reported on Telegram by the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to the military, between 18:00 on December 7 and the morning of December 8, Russian forces launched 149 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other types. The attacks came from the directions of Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo (Russia), as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and Chauda (Crimea). About 90 of the drones were Shaheds.

The air defense response was provided by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare forces, and UAV systems of the Defense Forces.

As of 09:00, preliminary data indicate that Ukrainian air defense units shot down or suppressed 131 enemy drones of various types across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

At the same time, 16 strike drones hit 11 locations, and debris from downed drones fell in four additional locations.

“The attack continues; several enemy UAVs are in the airspace. Follow safety rules!” the Air Force emphasized.

Russian occupiers also carried out drone strikes during the night of December 8 on a nine-story residential building in the city of Okhtyrka, Sumy region.

In Chernihiv, a multi-apartment residential building was damaged after a Russian drone crashed, injuring three people.
