Russia wants a “sustainable peace,” not a temporary ceasefire — Ryabkov

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that Moscow is not seeking a temporary ceasefire in the war against Ukraine, but rather what it claims to be a “sustainable peace” that would address the root causes of the conflict.

According to him, any agreement must guarantee Russia’s constitutional system and take into account the decisions of the population in the occupied territories in recent years.

Ryabkov also said that Russia still has “serious questions” for the United States regarding the war in Ukraine, but at the same time noted that the administration of Donald Trump has taken steps “in the right direction” by acknowledging NATO’s role in the start of the conflict.

In addition, Ryabkov emphasized that Moscow does not plan to attack EU or NATO countries and is ready to legally formalize the absence of expansionist intentions. He stressed that there are not many people in Europe willing to build a security architecture without opposing Russia and instead jointly with it.
