Russia is militarizing Ukrainian children in the occupied territories through summer camps
Russian occupiers continue to use summer camps in the temporarily occupied territories to militarize Ukrainian children. There, they instill in the children a positive attitude toward the Russian Federation’s army and prepare them for future service in its ranks.
According to the National Security and Defense Council, at children’s camps and during other events, the occupiers regularly organize meetings between children and Russian military personnel, who are presented as “heroes” and “defenders.”
During these meetings, the soldiers show the children weapons and equipment, put on demonstrations, and talk about “serving for the good of the motherland.”
The Center for National Resistance emphasizes that the main goal of these events is to foster a positive attitude toward the occupying forces among children. From an early age, a distorted view of the Russian army is imposed on them, instilling respect for the occupiers and gradually preparing young people to view service in the Russian Armed Forces as a natural and honorable choice.
The Center also noted that recently, more than 900 children from the temporarily occupied areas of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions attended a session at the “Time of Young Heroes” camp in Russia’s Volgograd region.
