Russia plans to recruit 409,000 new troops in 2026
The Russian Federation continues its intentions of further aggression against Ukraine and is preparing a large-scale wave of mobilization next year. This was reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to official data, Moscow plans to enlist an additional 409,000 servicemen into its armed forces to continue combat operations.
He noted that the aggressor continues systematic preparations for escalation, attempting to compensate for enormous frontline losses with new reserves.
"The Russian Federation plans to recruit 409,000 more servicemen in 2026 and continues preparing for further aggression against Ukraine," the Commander-in-Chief emphasized in his report.
With the change of season and improving weather conditions, the Ukrainian command has observed a significant increase in enemy activity. The Russian forces are trying to exploit favourable terrain to conduct offensive operations on key sections of the front.
In response, Oleksandr Syrskyi convened an urgent operational meeting on the state of defensive lines. Priority was given to accelerating the construction of engineering structures intended to serve as reliable barriers against Russian vehicles.
Special attention during the meeting was devoted to developing modern anti-drone defenses. As drones have become one of the main tools of destruction, strengthening electronic warfare systems and creating physical obstacles for UAVs is critically important.
"There are problem areas — we identified specific solutions and deadlines. The quality and speed of this work will determine not only the resilience of our defense but also the lives of our soldiers," General Syrskyi stressed.
The discussion involved not only military leadership but also heads of regional military administrations and representatives of the State Special Transport Service. Civilian and military efforts are being coordinated to prepare settlements as thoroughly as possible for potential defense.
It should be recalled that Russia is preparing for a covert mobilization of reservists. Russia has also been losing more troops than it recruits for three consecutive months.
