Russia promises to restore Baikonur launch pad by the end of winter 2026

“Roscosmos” has announced plans to complete the restoration of Launch Pad 31 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome by the end of winter 2026.

This is the platform from which Russian manned "Soyuz" spacecraft are launched to the International Space Station.

The agency emphasizes that the renovated complex must be prepared for its first new launch within a strictly defined schedule, which is being “closely monitored.”

According to Dmitry Baranov, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for Rocket Projects, the full set of equipment needed to replace the damaged service tower cabin has already been delivered to Baikonur.

Deliveries of components for the pad’s repair began on December 1. Currently, as the state corporation representative claims, all 18 vehicles carrying necessary structures and units have arrived.

At the site, metal elements are being primed and the new service cabin is receiving additional painting. Baranov noted that about 130 specialists from Roscosmos enterprises are involved in the work.

They are responsible both for assembly and for subsequent adjustment of the launch complex systems to ensure the possibility of safe launches.
