Russia strikes Odesa with over 50 drones — Zelenskyy
On the night of 27 January, Russian forces carried out another massive attack on Odesa, using Shahed strike drones.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the enemy primarily targeted the city’s energy infrastructure as well as ordinary residential areas.
The strike caused significant damage — five apartment buildings were affected, with some flats and entrances completely destroyed.
Preliminary reports indicate that dozens of people were injured, including children. Rescue teams, medics, and municipal services are working continuously at the sites of the attacks. Search operations under the rubble are ongoing until the fate of all missing persons is determined.
One of the drones hit a Christian Evangelical house of worship, causing extensive damage to the building.
The President emphasised that Russian terrorists deliberately target civilian infrastructure, showing total disregard for human life. He stressed that Ukraine will respond to every such crime and will continue strengthening its air defence to protect peaceful cities.
Earlier, on the evening of 26 January 2026, the Russian army attacked Kharkiv and other settlements in the region with ballistic missiles, causing widespread power outages and destruction of civilian facilities.
In Kharkiv, the number of people injured in the massive drone attack on the night of 24 January has risen to 27. Previously, on 19 January, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs.
