Russia Summons Ambassadors After Strike on Bryansk
Russia summoned the ambassadors of the United Kingdom and France following a Ukrainian strike on a factory in Bryansk. The Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that European countries were allegedly involved in the attack and threatened unspecified consequences, demanding a public condemnation of Ukraine’s actions. The ministry made the statement on Friday.
On 13 March, the ambassadors of the UK and France were called to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The reason was a Ukrainian Storm Shadow missile strike on the microelectronics plant “Group Silicon EL” in Bryansk on 10 March.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it expressed a “strong protest” during the meeting, accusing London and Paris of “direct involvement” in the strike, which killed seven people and injured more than forty. “It is clear to us that the missile attack on Bryansk would have been impossible without the participation of British and French specialists, as well as without the transfer of intelligence to the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv,” the statement said.
Moscow also claimed the strike was a “deliberate provocation aimed at undermining the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis” and demanded a “strong and unequivocal public condemnation” of the attack from the UK and France. Russia warned that if there is no reaction, it would be interpreted as “solidarity with terrorist methods.”
The Russian side threatened that any further alleged participation of London and Paris in “war crimes of the Kyiv regime” would place responsibility for escalating tensions and the conflict’s consequences on the European capitals. Moscow is thus seeking to shift responsibility for the Ukrainian military strike onto European countries and increase diplomatic pressure on Ukraine’s allies.
Meanwhile, on the front, dozens of attacks have already been recorded since the start of the day, with the heaviest fighting near Kostiantynivka. Russian forces are attempting to rotate troops on islands in Kherson region, but Ukrainian forces are regularly destroying their boats.
