Russia launched an attack on Ukraine overnight using 209 drones; air defense forces destroyed 180 targets
On the night of May 19, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, deploying 209 attack drones of various types.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
It is noted that the enemy launched Shahed-type strike UAVs, including jet-powered variants, as well as “Gerbera” and “Italmas” drones and “Parody”-type decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from the directions of Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups, and unmanned aerial vehicle forces were deployed to repel the air attack.
According to preliminary data as of 08:30, Ukrainian air defense destroyed or neutralized 180 enemy drones in the north, east, and south of the country.
At the same time, 27 strike drones were recorded hitting 15 locations, and debris from downed UAVs was found at 5 locations.
The Air Force noted that the attack is ongoing and that several enemy drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
On the night of May 19, Russian troops once again attacked the Izmail district of the Odesa region. Port infrastructure facilities in Izmail came under fire.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region on May 19, more than 20 attacks involving artillery and drones were recorded, resulting in two people being wounded. The shelling damaged infrastructure facilities, administrative buildings, and private homes in several districts of the region.
On the night of May 19, Russian drones attacked Kharkiv. A fire broke out in one of the city’s districts as a result of the strike. Information regarding potential damage and casualties is being verified.
