Russia has lost nearly another thousand troops in the past 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian army has lost another 950 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed dozens of pieces of military equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, and drones. Russia’s total losses since the start of the full-scale invasion have already exceeded 1.35 million troops. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has released updated data on Russian military losses as of May 23, 2026. According to the Ukrainian command, Russia lost another 950 soldiers in the past 24 hours alone.
Total losses of Russian military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion have already reached approximately 1,354,810 people. In addition to manpower, the Russian army continues to lose a large amount of equipment. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces destroyed:
- 5 tanks;
- 5 armored combat vehicles;
- 68 artillery systems;
- 1 multiple launch rocket system;
- 4 air defense systems;
- 1,819 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles;
- 201 vehicles and tankers;
- 5 units of special equipment;
- 4 ground-based robotic systems.
In total, since the start of the full-scale war, Ukrainian forces have destroyed nearly 12,000 Russian tanks and over 24,000 armored vehicles. The General Staff also reported that the Russian army has lost:
- 42,579 artillery systems;
- 1,799 multiple launch rocket systems;
- 1,394 air defense systems;
- 306,478 drones;
- 4,632 cruise missiles.
In addition, since the start of the invasion, Russia has lost 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 33 ships and boats, as well as 2 submarines.
The General Staff emphasized that the data is still being refined. “Data refinement is ongoing,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces command noted. Ukrainian military officials add that the heaviest fighting is currently taking place on several fronts simultaneously, where Russian troops continue to launch assaults and attempt to advance with large numbers of infantry and equipment.
Russian troops continue to launch massive strikes on the Kherson region. Over the past day, one person was killed in the region, and another 20 were wounded. Kherson and more than three dozen other settlements came under fire.
Over the past day, 13 civilians were injured due to Russian attacks in the Sumy region. Dozens of settlements in the region came under fire, and Russian drones attacked civilian vehicles, homes, and farms.
