Russia closed the Chongar border crossing following a drone attack
On June 7, Russian occupation forces officially closed the Chongar road checkpoint in the Kherson region and completely blocked traffic through the following a nighttime attack by Ukrainian strike drones.
As a result of a precision strike by kamikaze drones, the bridge deck connecting mainland Ukraine with the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula sustained significant damage.
The strike by unmanned aerial vehicles targeted a strategic infrastructure facility directly, paralyzing the invaders’ usual traffic. As a result of the drone strike, the bridge deck in the area of the checkpoint was damaged.
Details of the damage have not yet been officially specified by representatives of the aggressor country’s military command, but local eyewitnesses are posting footage showing craters in the road surface.
Cleaning up the aftermath of the explosions forced the invaders to urgently make adjustments to their logistics chains for transporting fuel and weapons.
Following the incident, traffic along key logistics routes leading to the temporarily occupied Crimea was partially or completely halted.
Miles-long traffic jams of civilian cars and military trucks formed at the approaches to the damaged sections.
