Russia sentenced a 17-year-old resident of occupied Donetsk to nine years in a penal colony

The Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced a 17-year-old resident of the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk to nine years in a juvenile correctional facility. The teenager was found guilty on a number of charges, including high treason and preparation for a terrorist attack.

The convicted individual is 17-year-old Yevgeny Zhadan. He was charged with treason, preparing a terrorist attack, participating in a terrorist organization, and the illegal trafficking of explosives.

It is currently unknown exactly when the teenager was detained. However, it is noted that in February 2026, he was added to Russia’s list of extremists and terrorists.

According to “Mediazona,” the teenager posted photos on his Telegram profile showing him in camouflage gear with a weapon. At the end of May, one of these photos also featured an emoji depicting the Russian flag.

As of now, Ukrainian authorities and law enforcement agencies have not publicly commented on the verdict. At the same time, there is no independent confirmation of the circumstances of the case, and the Russian court has not officially published a statement regarding the verdict.
