Russian forces launch over 100 strikes on Sumy region in one day, woman injured
Over the past day, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on border and central areas of the Sumy region, using a wide range of weapons.
The consequences of the shelling were reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on its official Facebook page.
A total of 36 settlements came under fire, leaving one civilian woman injured.
According to the administration, from the morning of April 8 to the morning of April 9, more than 100 strikes were recorded across 18 territorial communities.
In the Sumy community, a 33-year-old woman was injured in a Russian drone strike.
In addition to casualties, the attack damaged an apartment building, private homes, and civilian vehicles.
The highest intensity of shelling was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. Russian forces used mortars, tube artillery, FPV drones, and dropped guided aerial bombs (KABs) on residential areas.
Private households in the Esman, Shalyhyne, and Znob-Novhorodske communities suffered extensive damage. In addition to residential buildings, outbuildings were destroyed and critical civilian infrastructure was damaged.
In the Hlukhiv and Shostka communities, damage to non-residential buildings and private housing was reported. Russian forces targeted areas with no military presence, attempting to intimidate civilians in border areas.
The situation in the Velyka Pysarivka community remains tense, where Russian shelling completely destroyed a store and damaged vehicles.
Similar infrastructure damage was recorded in the Berezivka, Trostianets, and Bilopillia communities.
Earlier, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia using guided aerial bombs and multiple launch rocket systems.
They also carried out strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In addition, a drone attack on Zaporizhzhia left one person injured and damaged a State Emergency Service vehicle.
